Systems analysis could be a book in itself.

From a basics perspective, essential systems analysis includes

  • looking at the widest set of alternatives

  • rejecting bad or limiting alternatives (picking alternatives to evaluate)

  • refining how to evaluate the alternatives to evaluate

  • evaluating alternatives and comparing the pros and cons to develop a recommendation.

Often the results are presented as a trade study or a series of trade studies.
